BasketBall Connect

I am posting this message to alert all members and potential overseas candidates of a recent scam that I have discovered with an overseas consultant. This individual goes by the name "Lizzy" and fraudulently claims to be a consultant for the Nigerian Basketball League. He promises his candidates a lucrative monthly salary of $5000 US, housing accomodations, and free roundtrip airfare. However, his scam is to get prospective players to send $250 (via Western Union or bank draft) to pay for the processing of their travel documents and for them to be sent next-day air.

I was very apprehensive of this individual from the very beginning. Right from the start some of his information and presentation seemed to be a bit sketchy and misconstrued. However, I basically played along for about two weeks to ensure that this guy was a "scammer." He claims to also be a representative for the Union Bank basketball club in Lagos (Nigeria). If you don't happen to already know, Nigeria is notorious for being a very, very corrupt country with few measures in place to deter such ongoing corruption. Not to speak in a distasteful manner of the country as a whole, but I have numerous contacts from various parts of West Africa, and each of them has readily confirmed this notion.

Nonetheless, my only intention in presenting this message was to alert any potential overseas ballplayers that have been contacted or considering the possibility of negotiating with this particular "so-called" basketball consultant...Lizzy!

Be careful, dear hoopers...and stay alert! Unfortunately, there are countless efforts being made to exploit your time and $money.
