Using Skype As A Long Distance Carrier
Submitted by Sylita on Fri, 2005-08-05 11:30.
So yesterday I used Skype to call home yesterday from Europe for about 6 minutes and I paid 0.12 euro cents. I'm using a cell phone here and I knew that it would cost an arm and a leg and then suddenly I remembered that Skype has a new feature called SkypeOut where you can call to anyone who doesn't have a Skype id or online capabilities. It is prepaid and you see your balance within Skype which is nice and it only cost 10.00 Euros to get started, that is about $12.00USD so not bad at all.
If you're are planning on calling overseas you should think about using Skype. I'm so glad that I remembered. Also, I like the free calls to other Skype members if they have an internet connection. Another thing that I liked was that if you're overseas and you had an internet connection but wanted to get calls from home WITHOUT paying like $2.00 min you could buy a phone number of your choice from any state that you want. So, since I'm from Virginia I could get a VA area code and choose from the region that I wanted. I would give everyone my new number and they could call without any expense to them. The "phone" would ring just like normal but from your computer if thats what you have but Skype has other devices you can buy. So you pick up the phone and there you go! There is a bonus offer now where you can get a free voicemail account. If you missed that call from your mom, she could just leave a message and you get it when the game is over
I know I'll be using this A LOT!
Sign up for Skype its free and feel free to call me if you're there
